Common Medical Reasons For Circumcision Singapore

Many people undergo circumcision in Singapore. Circumcision is done for many reasons.

Many times, people who undergo Circumcision in Singapore do so for religious reasons. This is also a common practice in many parts of the world.

However, many people also undergo circumcision for medical reasons. Common medical reasons for circumcision are:

  1. Phimosis. This is when the foreskin is too tight to roll down the penis. This increase the risk of infections and also can cause pain during sexual intercourse.
  2. Para-Phimosis. This is when the foreskin can roll all the way down the Penis however cannot roll back up. This can cause a lot of pain and is a medical emergency. A doctor can place the foreskin back but if this happens again and again, a circumcision is often necessary.
  3. Repeated Balanitis. This is a repeated infection of the foreskin and head of the penis. It can be caused by bacteria and/or fungus. Although this is usually easily treated with creams, if it happens too often, circumcision is usually necessary.
  4. Repeated urine infections. A man who is not circumcised is at a higher risk of getting urine infections. This is an indication for circumcision.

Circumcision in Singapore can be done at most hospitals. Circumcision in Singapore can be done as a day procedure. In other words, most patients do not need to spend the night in hospital.

Circumcision in Singapore is also done in a variety of ways. It can be done with a blade, scissors or even laser. Different surgeons are familiar with different techniques.

Recovery is very fast. Most patients make a full recovery within 1 week. However, we still advice patients to refrain from sexual intercourse for 1 month.

Sometimes, the problem does not require a full circumcision.

Some patient just have a tight frenulum. This is the skin bridge that is found at the front of the penis head. It is a thin piece of skin that connects the penis head to the foreskin.

Sometimes, this frenulum is very tight and pulls the head of the penis downwards. This is usually much more obvious when the patient is erected.

A frenulectomy is done very differently from a circumcision in Singapore. It does not require a hospital stay. It is done in a clinic under local anaesthesia.

The whole procedure takes only 15 to 20 minutes. Some patients do not need stitches but most patients will need some stitches. The stitches are removed in 1 week. The patient is still advised to abstain from sexual health for at least 1 month to allow the wound to heal completely.

If you think you require a circumcision or frenulectomy the best thing to do is to come to one of our clinics and consult with our doctor.

We will assess your situation and let you know if you require any of these procedures. You will then to refered to the appropriate doctor to carry out the procedure for you.

Circumcision in Singapore is really accessible and easy.
